You know what could potentially keep more new players in the game? If Aura would tell them the moment they finish the first tutorial and dock up to join a corporation in order to learn the game faster, more reliable and connect with other players. Rather than talk to NPC agents doing stuff that will make them almost .1% closer of having a comfortable wallet.
New player here, been playing a week or so. the game is so complex I’ve stopped playing multiple times and did other things. Just now exploring joining a corp and that’s overwhelming as well. 😅
Great video! While I did enjoy my first few weeks in EVE solo, I'm glad I eventually joined a corporation even though I was not initially planning to do so. Playing with others really does open up a lot more possibilities in EVE!
I joined a scam corp when I first started, ended up robbing them blind once me and some others figured out it was a scam, worked our way up the ladder a bit, stole all their hulls, decent mods, salvage, a lot of isk and all good BP. Still one of the more satisfying things I did in eve, thanks to being scammed, technically xD
a completely reworked in-game corp finder system should be then end of the NPE tutorial missions, and it really needs to be emphasized that "crop" is just another word for guild or clan. 99% of people will stop playing before they understand that corps/alliances are literally what make the content in this game.
"... it really needs to be emphasized that "crop" is just another word for guild or clan." If one isn't smart enough to figure that out I don't think Eve is the game for them!!!
As a newbie I first joined a very large corp that seemed just to want fleet grunts and offered little in the way of personal help. Then I joined a small corp that were EU/UK time but just spoke French despite claiming to speak English (I am in the UK). Then I joined a role playing faction war (Gallante) corp that basically did nothing and seemed pointless. So now I play solo as I see several others do. I suspect some of this has to do with time zones. The UK doesn't in general speak any other language (although I speak a little French, it wasn't enough). Our timezone is 5 hours ahead of the Eastern US so there is not a great overlap if you want to play with US corps and get some sleep. I tried the in game search with little success looking for a UK corp. Presumably not all corps are findable on it. I get stupid SPAM corp recruitment emails in Cyrillic characters now. What we need is a more refined corp search tool that every corp is required to be part of, even if it is just to say: not recruiting currently so try again later. We also need the inverse where players can voluntarily advertise their needs and be searched for by recruiters. That might eliminate the SPAM. I would like the corp experience and I can see commercially why EVE push it. However they paint too rosy a picture. It is fine for US or Russian or Chinese players but for those in narrow timezones or particular language requirements it is not so good. EVE could also make the NPC corps better instead of ripping us off over taxes. They could emulate some of the better corp financial practices (a free ship now and then might be good). If there is a UK Gallente space based corp looking for a PVE high/low sec ratter, mission person who would love to stop being picked on in low sec by bored cowardly PVP ISK billionaires that would be great. (That is another point: since I like Gallente ships I want to be near Dodixie, not halfway round the Universe - joining a corp may mean you have to sacrifice your home/trade station).
Unlike other MMOs, if you are not part of a corporation as a new player you will have an incredibly limited experience of the game. Also, don't be afraid to jump from corporation to corporation until you find a playstyle or group of people you like. Just don't burn any bridges along the way.
You can try applying for being bodyguards to Mining Corps or Hauling Corps, there are tons of them that wanted guns protecting them in space. On the other hand, I have also seen many corps do wanted hired gun as mercenaries to disrupt their foes worklines.
This was my biggest mistake on starting EVE years ago. Joined the Imperium and moved out immedietly from High to Null sec. Played for about a year with tons of wealth but in the end I have no friends nor do I have advance knowledge on other sectors (High, Low, Wormhole). In the end, I started new acc, new toon, and just be on my own jumping corps to corps, doing every aspect of EVE except null sovereign war. I must say I enjoyed everything in EVE has to offer, but nullsec war was the least of it
@@avroraflorestina2314 In small corp everything you do matters. You are THE industry/ JF guy. Or small gang fc. In blob it's another F1 monkey or one of 1200 people who do same thing. Ah yes, now I remember why I hate social groups. One seems to spend all their time setting up unfamiliar lines of communication followed by trying to remember how to work them. Once you finally get that right, members want to do something you don't want to do. In other words, corporations etc take all the fun out of the game and make it a job.
I think Eve isn't the game for you if that's how you view it. Player corps are literally what the entire game's ecosystem is based on. What is the fun part of the game for you if you're not involved with other players? mission running alone? Getting blown up by gankers while mining solo? The entire point of the game is that players band together to shape the universe. It's not the same experience as a solo.

With so many corps I should have no trouble finding work as a hired gun. That’s more or less what I plan on doing in EVE.

Don't join a megablob alliance.. Better than solo play, but a small/ medium sized entity can feel like family.
Very much this. You may get shat on in game whenever you do anything to piss the blobs off, but you can make friends for life in a good small corp.
